Turning data into clarity: meet Jas, Business Intelligence Analyst at Enroly

Behind every Data Insights webinar and every Enroly trend report is Jas. With experience recruiting international students as a Regional Manager at a university, he brings a rare combination of context, empathy and analytical skill to the work.

“Having worked at a university, I really understand what is happening behind the numbers,” Jas explains. “The time pressures, the complex processes, the fact that so many teams need to come together to get a student from offer to enrolment.”

That experience shapes the way he interprets data today. He is not only looking at patterns, but what they mean operationally, whether something signals a genuine shift, a process challenge, or simply normal movement in the recruitment cycle.

What universities want to understand most

CAS Shield data powers the monthly Data Insights webinars. Jas works behind the scenes to bring the data together before it is delivered by Katie Layt through webinars and events, presenting emerging patterns across thousands of live student journeys.

“Universities are especially interested in anything that helps them understand conversion and how quickly students are moving through key stages,” he says. “These are the indicators that show how well an intake is performing.”

Market level trends are another major focus, particularly which countries or regions are accelerating or slowing down. For international teams planning ahead, this information is practical and immediate.

Turning institutional data into sector wide context

One of the most powerful parts of Enroly’s Data Insights work is the ability to compare a university’s performance with the wider sector.

“If a university’s acceptance to CAS issued rate is higher than the sector average, or if their CAS processing times are faster, that gives instant, actionable insight,” Jas explains. “It is the sort of information you cannot get from internal reporting alone.”

This benchmarking helps institutions understand where they are leading the way and where they may want to take a closer look at processes or resourcing.

Mid and end of intake snapshots

The mid and end of intake snapshot sessions are key points in the Data Insights calendar. They provide a strategic view that goes beyond the regular monthly updates.

“The monthly reports help people stay on top of what is happening in real time,” says Jas. “But the intake snapshots tell the bigger story.”

The mid intake snapshot highlights early patterns and signals to watch. The end of intake snapshot shows what actually happened, how outcomes compared to expectations and what lessons can be carried into the next cycle.

For Data Insights partners, these snapshots sit alongside the monthly Data Insights webinars, which offer a deeper, more hands-on review of what the data is showing. While the snapshots are short and open to everyone, the partner webinars provide an additional layer of insight and support.

Where data is heading in international education

From Jas’s vantage point, data is becoming far more than a retrospective reporting tool.

“It is moving from describing the past to helping predict what is coming next,” he says. “Universities can spot early signs of a slowdown in a key market, or an increase in visa risk, and act before it becomes a real problem.”

He sees a major opportunity in helping teams work from the same information, in real time.

“When recruitment, admissions and compliance are aligned around the same data, institutions can make decisions faster and grow more sustainably.”
